Giant Mekong Catfish - Pla Beuk

At Hua Hin Fishing Lodge we pride ourselves on the variety of fish that we stock. However - Thailand is famous for the Giant Mekong Catfish, the Pla Beuk as it is called here. According to the World Wildlfe Fund, these are an endangered species in the wild and we have stocked several specimen fish together with 250 youngsters - all growing well for the future.

They are an awesome display of power and strength, often compared to an 'underwater steam train', if you manage to lure one of these giants to your hook, you are guaranteed a good work out - better than an hour in the gym! The specimens shown here took between 1 and 4 hours to come to the net and weighed between 35 and 57Kg!

So – come on over – you might get hooked!
